Week #39 28 September – 4 October 2026 | Solving Cancer Crisis
Kalpavriksham Trust continues its commitment to cancer prevention, early detection, and community health through its ongoing awareness and screening initiatives. During Week #39, from 28 September to 4 October 2026, the Trust successfully conducted 11 events, reaching 822 beneficiaries through cancer screening camps, awareness talks, and a cancer awareness rally across Chennai and surrounding areas.
Through its community-focused projects, Sunkalp and Shakthi, Kalpavriksham Trust continues to promote early diagnosis, improve cancer awareness, and encourage people to take proactive steps towards better health.
As part of Project Sunkalp, Kalpavriksham Trust organised multiple cancer screening camps at healthcare centres and community locations in Madurantakam. These camps aimed to improve access to essential screening services and encourage individuals to prioritise preventive healthcare.
The screening initiatives were conducted at:
Orathy Primary Health Centre (PHC), Madurantakam
Pearl Global Company, Madurantakam
GG Pettai PHC, Madurantakam
Madurantakam Town PHC, Madurantakam
The screening camps provided beneficiaries with access to clinical breast examinations, oral examinations, and Pap smear testing, along with free iBreast examinations at the listed camps.
By bringing screening services closer to communities, Project Sunkalp aims to support early identification of potential health concerns and encourage timely medical evaluation and follow-up.
Project Shakthi continued its mission of educating students and communities about cancer prevention, early detection, and healthy practices through awareness programmes.
During the week, the Trust conducted the following activities:
1. Cancer Awareness Rally – NSS of Padma Sarangapani School, Villivakkam
A cancer awareness rally was organised on 30 September 2026, reaching 60 beneficiaries. The initiative helped promote awareness of cancer prevention and the importance of early detection within the community.
2. Cancer Awareness Talk – Shasun Jain College, T. Nagar
On 1 October 2026, an awareness session was conducted at Shasun Jain College, reaching 100 beneficiaries. The programme focused on educating participants about cancer awareness, prevention, and the importance of recognising warning signs.
3. Cancer Awareness Talk – SKPC Women's College, Chennai
A cancer awareness programme at SKPC Women's College on 1 October 2026 reached 250 beneficiaries, encouraging students to become informed advocates for cancer prevention and early diagnosis.
4. Cancer Awareness Talk – Community College, Alwarpet
On 3 October 2026, another awareness session was conducted at Community College, Alwarpet, reaching 40 beneficiaries. The programme reinforced the importance of health education and informed decision-making.
Through these initiatives, Project Shakthi continues to empower students and communities with knowledge that can help them make informed decisions about their health and encourage others to seek timely medical care.
During the week of 28 September to 4 October 2026, Kalpavriksham Trust achieved the following milestones:
